“The Top 10 Stars Of 2003” |
 |
 |
|
How are the Top 10 Male & Female Stars selected: At Hollywood Cult Movies, the 5 most popular actors and the 5 most popular actresses of each week, based on page views, are allocated points, 5 points for 1st placing, 4 points for 2nd placing, 3 points for 3rd placing, 2 points for 4th placing and 1 point for 5th placing. At the end of the year all the points are collated to determine the “Top 10” male and female stars of the year. If an actor or actress gained the top rank every week for an entire year the maximum number of points he or she would earn for the year would be 260 (i.e. 52 weeks x 5 points). When considering the “Top 10 Stars” ranking it is also important to note that the star profiles at Hollywood Cult Movies have not all debuted on the same day. (i.e. those that made their site debut early, have an advantage). Note: The taking of stats for 2003 began in August, so the following results are based on a 5 month period not a 12 month period.

The Top 10 Stars Of 2003 - Overview:
When Hollywood Cult Movies was launched in early 2003, it was aimed predominately at movie stars, however, part way through the year a number of TV categories were introduced to add novelty to the site. It was then very interesting to discover that the 2 top spots were taken out by TV stars, Travis Fimmel & Gena Lee Nolin. Also, of interest is the fact that the characters they portrayed on the small screen were both loin-cloth-clad jungle heroes, Tarzan & Sheena.
In the male ranking, 2nd & 3rd places went to more legendary screen heroes, teen heartthrob Tom “Superboy” Welling & big screen muscleman Steve “Hercules” Reeves, respectively. In the female ranking, song & dance teen queen, Hilary Duff came in 2nd with classic Bond Girl, Daniela Bianchi (“From Russia With Love”) clinching 3rd place.
Rounding out the male rankings were New Millennium star, Colin Farrell who came in 4th, “Lord Of The Rings” swashbuckler, Viggo Mortensen in 5th, TV “Spider-Man”, Nicholas Hammond in 6th, “Dirty Dancer”, Patrick Swayze in 7th, “Kung Fu Master”, Bruce Lee in 8th, legendary supporting star, Jack Elam in 9th & popular “TV Cowboy”, Clint walker in 10th.
Rounding out the female rankings were funny lady, Whoopi Goldberg in 4th, “Bend It Like Beckham” gal, Keira Knightley in 5th, sultry latin beauty, Salma Hayek in 6th, Conan’s female companion, Sandahl Bergman in 7th, Oscar winning Bond Girl, Halle Berry in 8th, Shallow Hal’s Gwyneth Paltrow in 9th & vintage “World Cinema” babe, Brigitte Bardot in 10th.
All in all, 2003 was a real mixed-bag of TV & Big Screen stars, both young & old. The big question now is, How many of them will be still standing when the stats are collated at the end of 2004?. Use the link further down the page to find out who the front runners are, at this point in time, in the quest to become one of, “The Top 10 Stars Of 2004 at Hollywood Cult Movies”.

Criteria for determining ranking:
Sometimes at Hollywood Cult Movies two or more stars end up with the same points, so special criteria is needed to determine ranking. The criteria used to determine ranking is as follows:
1. The star with the highest points wins the highest ranking.
2. If two stars have the same number of points, then the star who has been in the top 5 the greatest number of weeks will be ranked higher.
3. If two stars have equal points & have been in the top 5 for the same number of weeks, then the star who has achieved the highest rank in a particular week will be ranked higher.
4. If two stars are still locked even at this stage, then the star that debuted on the website last will be ranked higher, as they have achieved their rank in a shorter period of time.
Note: For 2003 the above criteria was sufficient in determining ranking. If necessary, in future years, additional criteria will be introduced to help determine ranking.
